There’s a battle waging on Google for high rankings for terms such as “custom stickers” and “sticker printing”. Websticker.com has been on-line since 1996 and we certainly have benefited from high rankings on Google for these terms as we built our successful sticker company. I should also mention I appreciate (and agree with) all of Google’s efforts to clean up and better target search results. What bothers me is misleading and limited information about custom stickers and sticker printing put out by some of our higher ranking competitors. So, if you’ll bear with me, here’s a few things that get me worked up and that you may want to think about if you are searching for custom sticker printing services.
First off, is the custom sticker company offering you the best printing option for your sticker needs… or is the company telling you their option is “the best” before understanding your needs? What is their printing method? Are there different options or are they trying to squeeze you into their sole production method? On many websites the sticker printing method is unclear or purposely avoided. One website I visited (I’m not going to name names) claimed that their 7 spot color screen printed stickers were the same price as a one spot color screen printed sticker – It’s beyond me how this could be possible with screen printing. They also claimed that they answered all e-mails instantly but a months later I’ve received no reply to my questions about their printing methods.
Another thing that bothers me are various company’s claims about adding “free” UV resistant lamination to stickers to “outlast competitors” and “help the longevity of products”. What they don’t tell you is that without the added laminate the custom stickers would not hold up at all outdoors. With a properly screen printed sticker and certain digital and offset printing methods there is not a need for lamination in order to make the sticker outdoor durable.
What about quality and delivery-time guarantees? I don’t see written guarantees on most of the websites I reviewed. What are these companies going to do if your custom stickers arrive late for an important event, or they aren’t sticking properly, or they are fading after a year on a car or product?
And, where are the pictures of the people behind the company that want to earn your trust and sell you “the highest quality custom stickers”? Pictures of sticker products can’t really tell you much about the actual quality. Most people, I would think, would prefer to know more about the people behind the product – What is their experience and are they going to take care of my needs. And where are some of these companies located? I just visited one website with very awkwardly written copy (bad English or computer written English) throughout. Where are they? Who are they? Who knows as there’s nothing in their “About Us” section (isn’t that what that section is for?).
Of course, there are great companies out there printing great custom sticker products. My recommendation is to not believe everything you read (and see), ask questions, check out and test samples, compare different companies, review guarantees, and check out on-line reviews or get recommendations when possible. When you find a company that does a great job, stick with them and spread the word – perhaps you’ll help them move up in the search engine rankings so more people can not only get the highest quality custom stickers but also the sticker, decal or label that is the best quality AND best value for their specific needs.
