So, you’ve got promotion stickers. You hand them out – you send them out – you wait to see them all around town. But, it seems like there should be more stickers out there then just the one on your own car. Though there is value for your business simply in the giving and distribution of your promotion sticker, you definitely want the added bonus of free advertising and exposure from these mini-billboards. Here are a few things you can do to improve applications and visibility.
Design – Make sure you understand how to design stickers. Your sticker design should resonate with your core market, and the product must be optimized for where you most want the sticker to be stuck. Do you want to see them on a water bottle, a laptop, a car, or a lamppost? Make sure you choose the right material, size, and image/message. How do you know what’s right? Ask. Get feedback and input on your ideas and designs, so you can make more effective marketing stickers. It’s easy with social media these days and the more your customers feel a part of the process the more likely they are to display your sticker.
Get Stuck – Now that you’ve designed a cool, effective marketing sticker how do you encourage the placing of stickers in an optimum spot? Well, one way is to simply tell recipients where you want them – tell them what to do with the sticker. Some people need an extra push. Tell recipients in the side material of a sticker sheet, on the back of the sticker, or in a note that comes with the sticker, “hey, place this sticker in the upper left of your car’s back window – watch out for the wiper area to avoid damage – and snap a photo and tag it on social media so we can send you a gift”. You can incentivize and encourage application to helmets, computers, phones, water bottles… anywhere you had in mind during the design process. For best results don’t be afraid to guide and prod a little.
The beauty of a sticker sheet is that you can offer stickers for multiple locations or different tastes, and you can tell them exactly what to do with it right on the sticker and why it’s a good idea, “stick this on your laptop – this on your phone – and this on your car – all your friends will think you are the coolest.” It’s unlikely you’ll score multiple locations, but it only takes one to dramatically increase exposure and encourage word of mouth.
