Is your business targeting the college age demographic? The laptop is one of the most essential tools in a college student’s possession, but maybe businesses don’t realize the extent of the culture behind students personalizing their laptops. Students use the growing trend of custom stickers on laptops as a way to connect with similar people while also showing off their unique interests and background. Whether it be a symbol of their hometown or a brand associated with their favorite sport stickers on laptops are influencing others.
In a survey of students at Queen’s University in Ontario, Canada, results showed that 52% of responding students’ laptops featured the stickers of companies or brands that they liked. Why is this of interest to a business like yours? Does your business already have a large following? Make sure you have custom stickers that fits nicely on a laptop and represents your company with a simple, yet aesthetically pleasing graphic.
The student sitting across the table in the library may have similar interests to the laptop owner, and your sticker may just stick in their mind when they are in the market for whatever product you’re selling. Getting your stickers on laptops or other tech gadget is like displaying a mini billboard and, especially in a college setting, it is making hundreds of targeted impressions.
What if your company or brand is new, or hasn’t yet built up the dedicated fan following? That doesn’t mean you can’t land a spot on a student’s laptop. In the same survey mentioned above, results showed 43% of students applied stickers with a “cool” design, quote or image even if they didn’t know or love the brand. So maybe your small clothing brand hasn’t quite become all the rage, but a custom sticker that incorporated a unique design or quote and came free with a piece clothing you sold, scored a spot on the buyer’s laptop. Other students appreciating the unique aesthetic of your sticker might have sparked interest in your company or product.
According to marketingcharts.com, 85% of college students own laptops. That’s a huge demographic with laptop space that you could be using to advertise your brand, and at an extremely low cost per impression. A small, well-designed sticker could be all that’s needed for your brand to reach and start some buzz among the younger generation.

What a great marketing idea to spread your identity and message using laptop stickers!
A classmate of mine from college started a snowboarding company, and before they had any products, they produced some awesome stickers with their logo on them. I soon saw those stickers all over student’s laptops and water bottles. It’s a great way for a young company to create brand awareness!
Here is a bit more interesting info on Laptop Stickers from an old Post – an article link isn’t there anymore but one guy charges $2500. for a spot on his laptop. https://www.websticker.com/blog/using-custom-laptop-stickers-for-advertising/
Sounds like companies targeting this demographic should be clamoring for space on college laptops, as I can’t think of an easier, more cost effective way to constantly make impressions on your target market with these new found brand ambassadors.
Laptop stickers are not just for students! I’m 45+ and my laptop is stickered with my favorite quotes, products and images.
