I believe automation and large scale printing is sucking the art and the collaboration out of custom sticker design and production.
At Websticker I think our collaborations with clients and our prioritizing of customer service is more important than ever. Yes, our sticker designers are “collaborating” – working as a team with customers to optimize art and improve marketing on every custom sticker project that comes through. Whether it’s someone’s full color painting that will become a sticker product sold in stores or it is one basic word on paper roll labels for packaging, the presentation, the marketing… the  art, matters.
The goal shouldn’t be to maximize profit, it should be to maximize exposure and build identity. I am grateful (and hope our customers are too) that we have no shareholders or investors to appease with profits and “growth”. We’re here solely to please our customers and our staff – collaborating together to produce more eye catching, thought provoking and effective sticker designs and sticker products. If we do that well, there will be enough income to carry on.
So, although smaller sticker companies like Websticker may be getting squeezed out of the top search engine results by large scale printers with deep pockets and more and more companies introduce snazzy automation so you can “do everything yourself” there is still a place for collaboration, for quality, and for the effectiveness of true promotional stickers. In any field, if you dig a bit deeper you can still find the artists, the collaborators, the quality, the value, and the soul.
