There are certain custom logo stickers that are recognizable to millions of people – logos that build identity day after day, year after year. In the ski industry, Sugarloaf, a ski mountain/resort in Central Maine has been very effective in spreading their simple logo with promotional stickers for over 65 years. There are Sugarloaf logo stickers stuck on all seven continents and all over the world. This one sticker design is making an impression on millions and millions of people daily.
So, what’s the secret to this identity-building phenomenon? A long-term identity building campaign built on simplicity and consistency. Here’s a quick plan for others trying to dominate their industry with an enduring promotional sticker campaign:
1) Start with a strong logo that reflects who and what you are. Keep it simple. Incorporate a specific color and shape to enhance overall recognition and impressions.
2) Make thousands of custom logo stickers every year and distribute them liberally to anyone who wants one (or five).
3) Continue. Don’t radically change logo. Don’t stop getting the custom logo stickers out there.
Of course, for this to work you need a great, consistent product/service so that there are always enthusiastic people to help spread the word… and the stickers.

There is a saying in business that goes like this: "You don't make money by working hard, you make money by getting other people to work hard for you." This is why Car stickers outperform other kinds of media.

I can remember when I was a child and barely knew where Vermont was, everywhere I would see a bumper sticker that read, "I LOVERMONT". Everywhere you went in the US and perhaps abroad you would see these stickers on the bumpers of cars. That must have been an extremely effective campaign for the tourism department like the Sugarloaf example you give.
