There are many different print methods for custom stickers, decals & labels. When searching for custom stickers online, digital printing is by far the most prevalent production method. But, when it comes to quality outdoor stickers, traditional screen printed stickers and vinyl screen printing are still the best choice.

Why? Well the short answer is that screen printing utilizes thicker, more vibrant, longer lasting inks. What is screen printing? Wikipedia has a good run-down on screen printing.

At Websticker we have access to many print methods and utilize different processes depending on the job and needs of the customer. Besides screen printing we offer offset, flexo and VSP digital printing on a variety of materials suitable for outdoor use. So, we don’t have a business interest in pushing screen printed stickers. It’s just a fact; vinyl screen printing is still the most durable option.

Here’s a bit more insight into the advantages of the thicker, UV light cured, pigmented printed inks for screen printed stickers:

Durability – Glossy screen printed inks are very resistant to chemicals and abrasion. They also won’t fade or chip with long term exposure to sun and outdoor elements for *3-5 years. There is no need for added laminates.

Color Vibrancy & Accuracy – Thicker inks means more vibrant, solid colors and more accurate **Pantone color matches.

Other print methods may be more appropriate on some projects (like a small run or full-color, 4-CP stickers). But, for higher quantities, one or two colors and higher quality stickers the value points to vinyl screen printing.

Remember, just like your employees, the quality of your stickers represent the quality of your brand/business.

Not all ***custom sticker manufacturers use this method for sticker production and not all screen printers are using the same presses, materials, and inks, but this will give you an idea of the production of screen printed stickers and decals.
