As far as I can tell, no one has written a book on marketing with promotional stickers. I wrote a comprehensive (but fun) guide to marketing effectively with stickers to fill this gap. The book includes marketing tips, history, distribution methods, design considerations, and most importantly, interviews and case studies from companies effectively using (and profiting from) the use of custom promotional stickers. Here’s a quick quote from Nathan at WesSpur Tree Equipment who is highlighted in the book. Check out the full story in Stick This! Using Promotional Stickers To Build Identity, Create Word Of Mouth and Grow Sales.
“On a more philosophical level, I think one of the reasons that stickers are such a great promotional item is that they actively involve the customer in creatively marketing your brand.  When someone gets a hat, t-shirt, or water bottle either they use it or they don’t.  When someone gets stickers, they look at them and then they make the decision about where to put them – helmet  or truck or saw scabbard?  Where? How many?  It may seem like simple decisions, but I think that getting the customer to make creative choices in personalizing their gear makes more of an emotional connection than just getting a promo item which involves no decision-making.”    – Nathan Lough
I always welcome more thoughts, feedback and philosophies on promoting with stickers. Perhaps there will be another book or we can feature your business or story in a blog or case study. What is your viewpoint on stickers? Have you effectively used custom stickers for marketing your business? What is the value of the sticker medium in your marketing mix? Why are there not only no books about marketing with promotional stickers but few (if any) chapters or mention of stickers in any books on business or marketing?

If someone drives across the country with a sticker on their car, I would be curious as to how many people would be effected by it. There is no way to track this, but I am always influenced in some way by the stickers I see on a daily basis. Whether it is a company I haven’t thought about for a while or a new company whose sticker design has piqued my interest, it is such an easy way to gain exposure.
